What PIVX is
PIVX is a privacy-focused, Proof-of-Stake blockchain that has run continuously since 2016 — through market cycles, upgrades, and a decade of adversarial internet. It pioneered energy-light Proof of Stake for privacy networks, and its SHIELD protocol (live on mainnet since 2021) provides zero-knowledge privacy: transactions that verify without revealing.

Why it fits Mask.ID
No one to subpoena. PIVX has no company, no headquarters, no CEO. It is maintained by a community and funded by its own on-chain treasury. Your identity’s foundation can’t be acquired, shut down, or quietly compelled.
Your key is your identity. A Mask.ID is a PIVX wallet you alone hold. Signing in means proving you hold your key — no password database anywhere, nothing to breach.
Trust Capital needs real ground. Reputation here is backed by value held over time. That backing has to live somewhere no one can counterfeit or confiscate — a proven public ledger is the only honest option.
Privacy by architecture. SHIELD’s zero-knowledge design matches our own rule: prove the fact, not the person.
Shared ethics
Mask.ID was built within the PIVX community, and the kinship isn’t a coincidence — the two projects share the same starting values.

Powered by PIVX — and independent from it
This is the part we want to be unmistakable: Mask.ID is a separate project. PIVX powers our wallet and login layer only — beyond that, Mask.ID and the PIVX Project are completely distinct.
You never have to buy PIVX — or any crypto. Ignore the currency side entirely and your wallet is simply a secure, private way to log in — no purchase, no balance, no crypto knowledge required.
Your coins stay yours. Your reputation can draw on the balance and coin age held at your Mask ID address — a wallet you own and control. Mask.ID never holds, moves, or has access to your coins.
We have no coin of our own. When Mask.ID charges an optional fee (see Pricing), it’s paid in PIVX — but Mask.ID has no token or coin. There’s nothing here to invest in.
PIVX is not ours to control. PIVX is governed by its community-driven DAO. Mask.ID has no say over it, no stake in steering it, and no special standing within it. Full stop.
We neither hide nor push the technology. You never need to think about it — backing, tips, and Trust Capital simply work — but it is there, auditable, for anyone who wants to look.
