Why Vector?

A place to speak,
built for masks.

You never need Vector to use Mask.ID. It’s simply the private, human way we hear from you — and a verified signal some members choose to carry.

What Vector is

Vector is a fast, free, censorship-resistant, privacy-focused, open-source chat app — one that Mask.ID aligns well with. Built on Nostr, an open protocol with no central server to seize or shut off. No phone number, no email, no directory of who talked to whom. Just conversation, owned by the people having it — on Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android.

Why it pairs with Mask.ID

Your feedback reaches a human — privately. When you send Mask.ID a note, it arrives over Vector — not email, not some support-desk SaaS. Private support that matches the rest of the platform.

A status you can prove. Members can surface a verified Vector status on their profile — checked cryptographically over Nostr, not a screenshot anyone could fake. One more real signal behind a reputation.

Same principles, same posture. No tracking, no data harvesting. The two projects are cut from the same cloth: privacy as dignity, trust as evidence.

Optional — and independent

Skip Vector entirely and nothing about your identity or reputation changes. They are two separate projects: Vector is made by Formless Labs; Mask.ID integrates it. Neither controls the other, and no money changes hands — the values simply line up.

If Vector is the kind of tool you wish more of the internet worked like, there’s a fitting way to say so: vouch for them on Mask.ID — the most Mask.ID way to say thank you.

Vector is free to use and open to audit — see VectorApp.io for builds, source, and VectorApp.io/hub for Communities.
